Acute Renal Failure? |
I found out a friend of mine has been diagnosed w/ acute renal failure, he gets dialysis 3x/week. He is 25 and in good health. Any advice/life expieriences you could share? Is there a good chance this can be "cured" (and not become End Stage Renal Failure)? he gets dialysis 3 times a week, he has had 12 dialysis treatments so far. although doctors can not find the reason for it, he believes it was because of medications he was given in the military.he has no other illnesses. thank God its "acute" cuz if cured at the rite time.. he can be normal for the rest of his life.. but if u dont cure the cause at the right time.. it progresses into "CHRONIC" renal failure n that leads to "end stage renal disease".. My dad is on dialysis 3 times a week. If he goes off it he will only have a short time to live. The only cure is a kidney transplant and then that isn't even 100% My brother suffered with Acute Renal Failure, which became chronic renal failure. He relied on dialysis for several years until a kidney became available. He was then 90% fit for several more years until that kidney failed, so it was back to dialysis and a wait for another kidney which came in due course. This one lasted for about two years, by this time he was not a fit man and back on dialysis, in those days he was dialysing for 8 hours a day 3 times a week and found it hard to maintain a positive attitude towards life and finally gave up the fight. Realy sorry for that !!! i hope he is on regular medicantion.........Diuretics r veyr important....plus he should be given calcuim......along with this dialysing........just be careful that he shoulnt go into chronic renal failure.... Acute renal failure has good prognosis.......God bless him. |
