Kidney Disease????

I have been 2 years cancer free. I was diagnosed with Renal Cancer while pregnant in 05. It was localized and removed with NO chemo, by doing a partial Nepherectomy. I have been following up with my test until about 8 months ago when I moved to Fl to change jobs. I do not get insurance until Dec. SO my question is, recently I have noticed that my urine is ORANGE to DARK GOLD in the morning, and I have developed a rash that comes and goes on my lips along with a itchy jaw line(no rash) ALL itches. I also take diet pills OTC because I cannot stay awake during the day. I am always tired and just a overall feeling of blah at times. I also have noticed in the last few months swelling in my hands and feet from time to time. If there is any health care professionals out there that would like to give me a suggestion I am all ears. Thanks

first of all thank you for the advice so far. YES to answer your questions about the fluid intake I get plenty. I work in a Dr's office, and I drink all day long. There are times that no matter how much I drink I may go once in a nine hour period then other times FINE with good color. This has all been recent over the last month, but small signs have been noticeable more than a month, I also AT TIMES get heart palpitations and also LOOSE MY HAIR A LOT!

I would underline the diet pills in your question. Follow the link-

It says-

"Diet Pills: Are they really safe? ->

Diet Pills available over the counter (OTC) contain a combination of medications, usually phenylpropanolamine (PPA) and caffeine, which act to control appetite. The active agent in these medications, PPA, is a central nervous system stimulant and has many effects on the body, one of which is to depress the desire to eat. Caffeine, also a stimulant, results in increased alertness and decreased drowsiness and fatigue when taken in low doses (50-200 mg). Caffeine also has some weak appetite-suppressant properties.

Recently, the effectiveness of PPA-based diet pills as weight control agents has bee questioned. Studies show that although PPA may act on the brain to depress appetite, this effect is minimal, and PPA can produce some serious side effects, such as high blood pressure, nausea, restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, and hallucinations.

Caffeine also affects circulatory function and has unpredictable effect on blood pressure. Because overweight people run a higher risk of hypertension, using PPA-based diet pills in the recommended dosages may seriously damage health, especially in those people who are unaware."

I think best will be to stop gradually the diet pills (in case you have been taking those for long time) and increase fluid intake. Check your bood pressure and blood sugar, just to make sure.
Good luck!

Are you drinking enough fluids? The dark urine is a dead giveaway of something wrong with your kidneys. So is the swelling. If you have been hydrating and your urine that color, get off Yahoo Answers and go to the ER!!

Honey, you need to get to the ER now. Right now. The color of your urine screams that you are not getting enough fluid, and the swelling is a bad omen too.

Don't fret, most hospitals have a charity care program if you can't pay. Either way, they won't force you to pay tonight anyway, but you need help right now! Don't wait, don't put it off, and those diet pills are certainly not helping, as they force the kidneys to work harder.
Good luck, and let us know your ok.

Urine is supposed to be mostly clear. That is if you are drinking enough fluids and your kidneys are processing the liquid.

Diet pills are a big no-no if you want what is left of your renal system to be in tip top shape. You can lose weight the old fashioned way, reduced portions and exercise. As for being tired during the day, better to feel tired than end up dying earlier than you have to.

You definitely need to make an appointment with a urologist and be upfront about the diet pills and any other supplements or herbal medicines or even energy drinks you are ingesting. Then you need to let him take it from there. You have to take control of your health now, before it is too late. This is nothing to play around with.
