The doctor told me I have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and theres no medicine/treatment that will help. HELP!?

Quite simply, you need to find a new doctor! There are lots of medicines and treatments that can help or even put the RSD/CRPS into remission.

Your first step should be to find a doctor who can and will help you. If you live in a city with a big university hospital, contact their pain management clinic. Also, go to http://www.rsds.org and find all of the information you can. You can contact the organization, and they often will help you find a good doctor.

The first step in treating RSD is usually nerve blocks, physical therapy and medications. For many people, those work very well and for some, further treatment isn't even needed at all, especially if the treatment started within 6 months of the onset of symptoms.

There are tons of treatment options (including the spinal cord stimulator, which was mentioned above), and new stuff is coming up all of the time. It is my opinion that everyone with RSD can find something that will reduce the pain and symptoms if they work with their doctor and are willing to look hard enough! It isn't easy, but it's definitely possible. So don't take "there's nothing that will help" for an answer---because there's a lot you can do!

Good luck, and I hope you find the treatment you need!

There is help available, a friend of mine has this and has for a number of years now. He has searched and searched BUT he has found help in a doctor in Florida, I can't remember what his name is but apparently he is VERY VERY up on the research and treatments (though of course incredibly expensive). Perhaps if you googled it and included a search of doctors in Florida you may find him.

Best of Luck!! I do hope you find what your looking for!

There are a lot of different treatments that may help. It's true that it is difficult to treat, so people with RSD (CRPS) usually end up going to pain specialists, who are more familiar with all the different treatments that are available. You can read more about the different treatments in the sources below. They say that the sooner you start treating it, the more successful the treatment will be, so I hope your doctor can refer you to a pain specialist soon. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon.

There are treatments for RSD/CRPS, but there is no known cure. If the doctor won't do anything for you go to another doctor because there are many treatments that can be done for you, but none are guaranteed to work. Sympathetic blocks, medications (nerve and pain, but they usually don't work very well), and the Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) has worked the best for me, and there is not medication involved that's why I like it so much. You can get more information about an SCS at www.ans-medical.com there are also ketmaine treatments that are being done which have been helpful for many patients. There are so many treatment options out there! You can get more info at www.americanrsdhope.org and www.rsds.org Good luck!
