Finding a new doctor:/? |
i have sympathetic nerve dystrophy and me and my doctor had a "falling out." i need to find a new doctor but i'm not sure what i need to do get a new doctor because this is a serious disease. i'm on medications: oxycodone 30mg, ms contain 1mg, clonazepam 1mg, citalopram-hbr 20mg, especially with these needs. would it be easier to take my past madical files or to completely start off new? like i'm completely in the dark here... any suggestions please. no rude remarks either please thank you. here is a link it's about my disease it's pretty long so just read the causes setion :P http://www.healiohealth.com/rsd-reflex-s... Even with a falling out, you need to speak to your doctor about referral to somebody else. If it is a specialist that you've had a falling out with, do you have a g.p. who will refer you to another pain-management specialist? Firstly, any good doctor would not have you start off completely new. They will request the records themselves from the prior seen doctor. Is it a internal med doctor you are wanting to see of a specialist. If it is an internal med doctor, I would recommend calling your local medical society org. and getting a pamplet to read on your options. If it is a specialist, more then likely you will need referred over by your primary physician, so have a talk with them and see who they suggest. I don't know what kind of "falling out" you had with your current doctor, but you should still be able to call his/her office and request that they refer you to someone else in the area that will be able to take care of you. It's very difficult to find a new doctor quickly. Most aren't taking new patients and, if they are, the waiting list is a few months long. I f your current doctor won't refer you to someone else, there's probably a state-run agency that monitors doctors. Call their phone number and file a complaint against him/her. Meanwhile, keep looking. I wish you the best of luck with this. Sorry to hear of your condition. Start checking your local American Medical Association for a referral. You can also check out Naturopathic or Homeopathic physicians in your area. You can also start by asking people that you really trust. Make sure you get copies of your records, they have a tendency to disappear! I can sympathize with your tense relationship between you and your doctor. If you are seeking medical attention from a new source, it is imperative that you bring with you, or request the resource for, your complete medical files. The history of your well-being, and not-so-well-being, contained in those files is just as important as telling your new doctor WHY you want a new doctor. Communication is extremely important between a doctor and patient regardless of the severity of the problem. If you are on opiates you are not going to find a doctor who will take you on without your records I don't think. MS contin is not made in 1mg tablets. I do believe the smallest dosage of that is 15mg.There is IR morphine in the smaller dose. I also believe if you are on narcotics they have to give you a notice of intent to not treat you anymore and a date of when this will take effect. I know by law they can't just leave you hanging whether they would like to or not. Good Luck . I surely know how this can be. |
