A rectal prolapse is basically when your lower portion of your rectum just inside the anal canal becomes turned inside out. It can often be caused by constant straining/pushing when going to the toilet and also after child birth. Its believed to do with a weakness in the pelvic muscles, it can also occur just as we get older as our muscles become weaker.

The normal treatment in surgical, I've never heard of any one using medicines to fix it. Your rectum has to be turned back in the correct way, no medicine is going to do this. Only a surgeon can.
