How do I solve a rectal itch? |
I am paralyzed from the waist down b/c of M.S. I suspect part of the problem is the effect of the disease and part results from my inability to stand or even roll over in bed and thus relieve the pressure on my bottom. I've tried it all, and I can't find anything that truly works. I am so sorry that this is happening to you. Do you have a therapist that can assist you with movement every hour or so. I am not to sure about medication, but there is some over the counter medication that works good, like tux medicated pads or perhaps vix vapor rub would help since it circulates the blood fairly well. I'm sure you asked your MD, but I would try Tucks pads, benadryl cream, etc.; change material next to your skin, i.e., only breathable cottons. I really don't know, but hopefully you don't have pinworms. They only come out at night and cause the rectum to itch..I'm sure that's not what it is but if you get the itch only a night it's possible that's what you have... It needs to be cleaned better, and use peroxide after, itll kill germs and if its yeast, which it can be, peroxide will kill it on contact. I have two suggestions. The first and simple one is to make sure your butt is as clean as possible using baby wipes or whatever works for you or your health aid. Second (and you should probably ask a dermatologist before you try this) is to apply a small amount of capsaicin cream to the area. Capsaicin is made from hot peppers and is used topically to kill arthritis pain. Applying capsaicin will burn (possibly sharply) for about twenty minutes the first time you do this so just start out with a small dab. Apply the cream three times a day. By the second or third day you will notice that it no longer heats up nearly as bad and also that the itching is greatly reduced or gone. Soon you will only need one application or two per day and you will feel almost no heat but just itch relief. This technique was taught me by the fourth dermatologist that I saw for severe idiopathic itching in my ear canal. Capsaicin cream is available over the counter at the drug store. good luck as pruitis ani sucks. |
