Do vegetarians have a lower risk of colon rectal cancer?

Do vegetarians have a lower risk of colon rectal cancer?

Statistically, yes. Red meat is shown to cause a sharp increase in the chances of getting this type of cancer. (It might even be something like 300%).

That doesn't mean it doesn't happen to vegetarians, though. A vegetarian friend of mine was diagnosed with colon cancer a few years ago, and she had never eaten meat in her life (over 60 years!). Fortunately she had such a clean system that she was able to tell something was wrong almost immediately, and there was only a problem for about a week.

Yes, vegetarians have a lower risk of all kinds of cancer. I had prostate cancer and was treated in Loma Linda, California at Loma Linda University Medical Center... Loma Linda is a Seven Day Adventist community and most Adventist are pretty much vegetarians.. Loma Linda has the longest life expectancy for its population of any town in the USA... I am not a vegetarian.. but living there 3 months was an unbelievable experience.. they were the healthiest group of people I have ever seen...and most all of them lived to 90-100s... sure no cancer or cardiovascular disease among them.

i've asked that question to my colorectal nurse, and she said that used to be the case but in the recent years there has been an increase in vegetarians with colorectal cancer.
