Why oncologists are suggesting their rectal cancer patients to live sperm for freezing. Is this hospital?

policy or they know that their patients won't have kids at all after radiation

It is a precaution since chemotherapy and radiation may cause sterility. If the patient has no intentions of having any children than he can elect not to go through with this. This is predominately a concern of young adult patients who have never had a chance to father a child and may at some point wish to do so.

The risk of the cancer treatment causing sterility is quite high. So... if the patent ever wants to have kids it is prudent to freeze some sperm before treatment just in case.
