Rectal Problems?

I'm 22 and I'm a female. For years, I have been getting this sharp pain in my colon that comes and goes every now and then. I can say I probably experience this 12 times per year (spread out throughout the year). The pain feels like my colon is probably contracting or maybe like it's being stabbed by a knife, because it is very sharp feeling. It can come out of the blue, while I'm lying down, standing, or sitting and it stays for maximum of 5 seconds maybe.

I've never inserted anything into that area and I don't ever use it for anything except bowel movements. I've never had hemerroids or any rectal bleeding or anything. I still have not gone to get it checked out. I looked up Colon Cancer symptoms on the internet and the symptom that I have is not among them, so I am really confused as to what may be happening.

If this symptom may sound familiar to you can you please share with me what it may be? I was wondering if I might have Colon Cancer or some rectal problems.

You may want to check out "spastic colon". This is when the colon goes into spasms for no apparent reason and can cause excruciating pain. Also, your bowel habits need to be paid close attention to. You may have Irritable Bowel Syndrome.. It would be a very good idea to go to your regular doctor and get a referral for a colonoscopy just to be on the safe side.

that sounds like a spasm

It could be just your uterus contracting or a tipped ovary. That is the feeling you get after having a baby but much more severe. See if the symptoms come at the same time as ovulation or period and if they are at the same time of your menstural cycle each month. Or every other month.

Ulcerative Colitis sometimes could be that. But you could also have internal hemerroids which is not a big deal but still can have little pains with them.Best bet is to have dr run tests.
