Have had Rectal pain Since age 20 now am 26, too late to do anything?

Hi all. i'm a male 26 years old,, hispanic. I have been having pain and blood in my stool since i was 20.. but i would for example go to the bathroom, wipe, and see some red in the toilet paper. then, for along time i wouldn't see anything, as if normal, then other days sudden colon pains, then othere days the whole toilete water turned red and i got scared...by the way the blood is bright red, not dark.

I want to go to the gastrointestinal doctor but currently i'm suffering from Knee pain , so i'm going to a orthopedic, who also told me i need to get Physical therapy for my knees...and i've got a bunch of other stuff so you can imagine...i'm going financially broke. But I guess it's also about timet to go to the gastro doctor,,, .. From what i've explained, do you think i have colon cancer? Too late to do anything?

Sounds like a fissure to me, but with anything, it is best to get things checked out.

Listen, it's never too late to go to the doctor. None of us are doctors here so it's hard to say if it's colon cancer.

Odds are this is hemorrhoids. There is lots of information on the web, which I suggest you read before running around convincing yourself you have a tumor.

It's unusual to have rectal cancer in the twenties, unless your dad or someone in your familiy had it.

There are only a few diseases connected to rectal cancer in young ages. They are all inherited. Some of them are new mutations but alltogether they are very rare.

By the way you don't feel pain if you have cancer in the early stages you feel it if it's very advanced. And if it were very advanced six years ago you wouldn't be alive now !

I don't know what it is but I don't think it's rectal cancer. Regardless you should go to a gastro doc.

Well it doesn't sound good. Blood in your stool could be from an ulcer in your stomach too. Or it could be from hemmoroids...which explains blood when you wipe your butt after a poo, but you will have pain at the opening if it's hemmoroids.

Red blood in the toilet itself signifies a lot of blood is being lost and could be from something more serious. Polyps in the colon can turn cancerous and should be removed long before they do. It would do everyone to get a colonoscopy at least once in thier lives.

Don't wait, even if it's something bad like that it can be fixed. You don't want to to spread beyond the intestines if that is what it is. It's all treatable nowadays unless you ignore it. You've done that long enough now get your butt to the doctors! You're knees won't matter to you if you have something more serious going on. Priorities my friend!

please see a doctor first, who will probably refer you to a gastro specialist then, have a colonoscopy done, you will be asleep during this procedure, while he/she is scoping the colon anything can be seen and or burned away, i.e., polyps, that could cause cancer, six years is a very very long time to wait, don't ya think? Once this painless procedure is done, you should be worry free for another 3-6 years. I know because my sister just had hers checked at 44 years old. Do it, put your mind at rest. :)
