Would like some information on raynaud's disease please?

My sister has raynaud's disease. I've seen her finger acturally turn blue from lack of circulation and the pain is unbearable. Is there anything much that can be done for that illness? She does take a couple medicines for that also. Any answers on that subject would be appreciated. Thank you. Have a nice day. The fingers turn blue on both hands for a while and then the circulation comes back.

Raynaud's disease is caused by a diminished circulation to The extremities, mostly hand and feet. It is highly associated with people of Jewish heritage.( just as osteoporosis is associated with Asian and small frame Caucasian women) It occurs either due to poor profusion (transfer of blood into tissues very far from the heart) or a lack of extensive capillary action in the feet & hands. The pain is caused by the nerve cells in the extremities letting the body know about the lack of circulation to those areas. For the hands a quick fix may be as simple as rotating the entire arm in a circle from the shoulders for a minute or two several times daily. Also keeping feet and hands at level with the heart as much as possible , so that the pumping of the blood from the heart is direct and strong as possible. Lastly the best way to prevent this from occurring is to take preventive measures, Warm socks, insulated shoes, gloves (mittens even better) before the cold sets in! Occasionally special stockings that increase circulation to the legs/feet ( BUT NOT TO RESTRICTIVE, specially at the knee level) may also work. CAUTION: when attempting to warm feet or hands, DO NOT USE HOT water or HOT heating pads. Must warm gently and slowly to avoid futher overstimulation of these areas. ( a hairdryer can work nicely as long as it is kept at a minimum distance of 18 inches and constantly moving or waving the dryer over the area!)
