Why do my feet get so hot at night?

For the last couple of years (moreso in the summer, but the odd night in the winter) I've been woken up in the middle of the night by my feet being really hot. So hot that I have to get out of bed and go and run them under a cold tap. My younger brother has the same problem (we're both in our early 20s, both a healthy weight and both in office jobs). It happens occasionally during the day, but this is less of a problem - it's just it stops me getting a good night's sleep when it happens! I also suffer from Raynaud's Disease (but my brother doesn't). Anyone got any ideas on why this happens and what to do so we can both get some sleep?

I Do have an understanding of what you are talking about.
My feet do that too they get really hot in the evening including my legs and arms and my feet swell up like a balloon. there is a possibility that your brother could have some form of Porferia. Or he could have some variation of Raynaud's. (Raynaud's comes on people differently!!). I also have trouble sleeping b/c of the pain.
I have seen 17+ and the do not know what is wrong w/ me.I am going to Duke medical center soon. They know it is like I have raynauds that affects my entire body. (my whole body gets cold including the top of my head to where perming solution and hair die will not take b/c of it!!!) They say it is medically impossible to have Raynaud's that affects the whole body thought. I can hardly walk b/c of all the pain and can barley hobble around on my heels. It is June now and It is like I have A raynaud's attack that never goes away!!! (I can't bear wight on my toes!!) Do you experience chronic pain??
I am so sorry that I am talking about me so much. It is just i want you to have a back ground on me so that you know what is going on so that if I give you info that it will make since. i answered this question just so that I feel I can relate w/ someone and so that I don't feel so alone. Leave them uncovered so that they are nice and cool. Of course this might make the rest of you cold but it's worth it believe me!!!P.S.Happened to me when I was younger too so bad I had heat rash on the sides of my feet.OW!!!xxxx

have you ever heard the phrase one foot in hell and one foot on a bananna peel.

check with your doctor...my doctors prescribed me "Lunesta" it works wonders ...it's a sleeping pill with no drugs , so you won't get hooked on them....good luck to you and your brother..also, drinks lots of water
