Does any know where I could find a list of the world's rarest diseases? |
I once knew a girl who had a very rare disease. As I was told, and from what I remember, it was called GAP Syndrome and it was kind of a combination of 5 or so other diseases. She was bald, and also didn't have teeth. She had large knots on the back of her neck and scalp. I was told that only about 20 people in the world had the disease, and that nearly all that ever had it only lived to be 8 or 9 years old. I was alos told that she was written about in medical journals and magazines because at the time she was about 15, so this was miraculous. She is now about 30, but I don't know her to ask what the disease is. Anyone know where I might find information? You might try any of the following links: have you checked the internet? Try the internet! Try doing a search on CDC (center for Disease Control) They may have a list there. Usually the best place to find information on rare diseases will be in medical journals, preferably medical research journals, or medical colleges publications because they usually find something new everyday or they improve upon something old. I hope you find it. Try this site. |
