My son has a rare disease where he cant digest natural sugar, what vegtables can he eat? |
Need to know what vegtables dont contain sugar, or change to a natural sugar. So i can make a side for him. I know tomatos already. What about asparugus, any others? we are seeing a doctor/and nutrionist. they have never had this diagnosis. there are only about 250-280 people in the world known to have fructose intolerence. and we are just trying to get a feel for what his diet should be. That's a tough question. It is my understanding that all vegetables and fruits contain natural sugar (fructose) because they are carbohydrates. Corn, peas, green beans, potatoes are starchier that other veggies, so I believe they would be higher in sugars. Otherwise, I'm afraid I can't answer that. Can you consult with a dietician to help you with his diet? Perhaps if you mentioned the name of the disease we could find sources to help with your question. consult with your local hospitals registered dietitian I used to be on the Atkins diet. They preferred you to eat vegetables that would probably fall into the same category as your son's needs. This is a conversation you should be having with a doctor or nutritionist. You're risking your son's health soliciting tips from strangers. I would ask his nutritionist...I'm sure there are books you can buy that will help with meals as well. Good luck :) avoid complex carbohydrates like potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, wheat and pasta products. Asparagus is fine, broccoli, green leafy veggies, mushrooms, green beans, are a few. Natural sugar is a real general term and most sugars are natural like fructose in fruits, lactose in milk, and others. Talk to your doctor about the diagnosis and specific dietary restrictions. I'm sorry for your denial, and other coping mechanisms that haven't helped you. Now it's time for you to be a father and that comes with responsibility. You have to go to the doctor's office because they will not release information over the phone. Where the hell is his mother? Get mad and do something right for once in your "life"Hey Vern, let's go to Yahoo Answers and kill our son." Jesus, dude. |
