Stagatory rape ages...?

Ok, so. I know this friend, and he's a really good close friend of mine, but he's 24 and I'm 16. our birthdays are one day apart so theres no waiting until I'm 17 and he's still 24 possible.

Anyways, I haven't gotten intimate with him, and I don't want to unless I know that he won't go to jail because of it. We looked it up and some sources gave us the stagatory rape age was 16-25, and some said that no matter what, it stops at 18 and I got a few other answers. I want to know what the actual age is AND your source. So I can verify it all.

you need to be 18 to play it safe. no 24 yr old has anything in common with a 16 yr old, nor SHOULD he.

I always thought it was over 18, under 18. But then recently I heard that once your 16 your considered legal as far as that, but that doesnt seem right. I think a 17 y/o having sex with a 24 or 25 y/o is statuatory rape. It might depend on what state you live in too though, I think different states have different laws. I would try lookin it up on google or something...

Age of consent varies by state. In Michigan the law was that 16 was the age to consent, but only with a 16 or 17 year old, which means if you're 18 or older you can only have sex with others 18 or older.

If this would be statutory rape in your state, and he was caught, charged and found guilty, he would be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.
