Can recent history of smoking increase chance of radon poisoning?

I have a relative who used to smoke and we live in a part of the country, and part of the state where radon levels are high.

Living with elevated radon levels and smoking increases your chances of coming down with lung cancer by 800-900%.

The best thing you can do is test your home. You may have nothing to worry about. If you do find elevated levels it is easy to fix and breath easy again.
