When should the patient get the radiotherapy after the chemotherapy? |
Mom had surgery on her neck because she got sequamous carcenoma in the lymph nodes of her neck & she finished her chemotherapy course 3 weeks ago ,now she has to get the radiotherapy ,when she should get it? I want to say that the chemotherapy was Cicplatenol and 5-Floro Uracil her course was four courses each one for 5 days. It really depends on the type of chemotherapy she received. Sometimes the radiation has to start concurrently with chemo. In her case it sounds like it may start in a few weeks. It can also depend on how well she responded to the chemo. If there was a good/bad response, it could alter the dose and modality that the radiation oncologist prescribes. It's best to talk her her oncologist about this. they usually start the radation with the chemo for some people ... I AGREE WITH DAWESTCOASTBOY |
