Radiotherapy & surgery causing numbness.?

I have numbness under my arm will it get better

It is not uncommon for numbness and tingling to occur after surgery. As stated earlier, the nerves have been cut and it will take time to regenerate. My guess is this was perhaps for breast cancer .Dont worry about it as it will improve in time.

double check w/you doc. When my bf had surgury for cancer, he was told that nerve endings would have been cut under his arm to get access to where they wanted to remove cancer. He was also told they would regenerate in about 8 weeks time, that he'd feel pins and needles there for about week when that happened. Almost to the day, that is exactly what happened. Hopefully that is the case w/you, but your doc can confirm.

Often during surgery and treatment a person may experience numbness due to nerves being cut. It takes time for the nerves to rejoin and rejuvinate themselves. During this process you may experience feeling a burning sensation around the surgical area. This process can take along time depending on the type of surgery and treatment you are undergoing.
Speak to your doctor if you are unsure.

I had surgery January 2006, and I guess nerves were cut, so afterward my skin was numb all around it. That's the normal result of surgery, especially a long incision.

But ever since, the numb area has been getting smaller and smaller.

Bottom-line, the surgery saved my life, and I'm grateful.
