If you have had radiotherapy for breast cancer in the past can you breastfeed?

If you have had radiotherapy for breast cancer in the past can you breastfeed?

Normally, you wouldn't be able to produce much milk from the breast you had the treatment on but is possible yes. If it was recently that you had radiotherapy then probably not a good idea with the radiation aspect of it but speak with your midwife/doctor - they'll be able to tell you for sure. x

Speak with your Doctor about that one

If you have had radiotherapy, it is unlikely that your treated breast will produce much milk, although some women have breastfed successfully from the treated breast.

i'd talk to your doctor. It also depends on how long ago the radiotherapy was as you don't want to risk exposing your baby to anything harmful that may be in your breast milk.

I agree with the other posters....it's more a question of function than anything else. If you were concerned about that the radioactivity of the milk you needn't worry. You aren't radioactive at any time during radiotherapy for breast CA.
