I have recently finished radiotherapy for hogkins lymphoma cancer but carn't stop itching?

i have been to the gp and he gave me hydroxyzine tables and fucibet cream but its not helping, i also rang the hospital where i had my treatment and they said unless the itching is in the area where i had my treatment it wouldn't be that

Sometimes there is no single answer as to what works best for itching that accompanies Hodgkin's or lymphoma.

Sarna lotion can be a helpful topical as are Aquaphor and Eucerin creams. Antihistamines might help. Claritin or Zyrtec during the day and Benadryl at night. Topical Lidocaine can be helpful. Corticosteroid creams can be helpful. Doxepin cream or capsules can be very helpful. If you try the capsules be aware that they make you drowsy the first few days you take them. Atarax (which you already have) can be helpful. Capsaicin cream can help greatly if the itching is localized. Avenno oat meal baths can sometimes provide temporary relief. Most of these things I have mentioned can be combined with each other for better overall results.

Itching (pruritus) is a complex subject and often takes some trial and error to treat or cure. Here is a good article on the causes and various treatment options available for itching. good luck

You can try the over the counter Benadryl, but be aware that it can cause sleepiness.

Well, with wounds itching is a wonderful sign that natural healing is going on.. Rather or not this would apply in your case I'm unsure of. Just thought I'd give you that tad bit of information. I don't know if this is available over the counter but ask your local pharmacist about a product called silverdine(sp?).

I had the all over itch for years before treatment for lymphoma, it was apparently a symptom(not excema), i learned not to give in to the urge to scratch and learned how to ignore it. It wasn't easy but the brief relief of scratching just seems to make it come back even worse, so i didn't scratch. Not focusing on it really works, with practice of course. When you've tried all the lotions and potions that others have offered, it might be worth thinking about. Or not as the case may be! Good luck

I used Diprobase ointment, and oilatum in the bath and it helped a little. If you can drink loads of water and eat fruit and veg it also helps.

good luck - I found out yesterday that I am now in remission - Whe Hey - hope your day comes soon - then all the itches and other stuff will seem so worth it.

Pruritis or itching is sometimes a symptom of Hogkin Lymphoma. It maybe important to know about the time course of your itch, for example: did you have this before you started treatment? did it go away during treatment? and is this the same itch as you had before. Since you've just had treatment, scans or exams maynot show any lymphoma growing, but it's important to keep your oncologist informed of these problems.

Any rash with that? I had shingles during radiation, and it itched like crazy?
Here's a great site for info:
