Will chemo work better on a lump than radiotherapy ?

Will chemo work better on a lump than radiotherapy ?

the best advice will always come from a doctor. generally, the best way to treat a lump is to have it surgically removed. chemo and radiotherapy are just adjunct treatments that are supposed to kill cancer cells that were not taken out. (maybe because the whole lump or tumor was not excised fully, or maybe because it the cancer cells that were not taken out by surgey was invisible to the human eye.) Also, like an ordinary drug, radiation and chemo comes in different dosages. the strongest radiation might be more effective than the weakest chemo, thus giving a NO to your answer. It could be the other way around too, thus giving a YES to your question. Again, better consult a doctor, as a physician is in a much better position to educate a cancer patient on what is the best treatment is, cosidering the type of cancer, its size, its aggressiveness, and your response to treatments.

you should ask that to your doctor and if you don't feel sure maybe you need a second opinion

I agree, ask the doctor. And it also depends on how much you would have to receive. I am not sure about radiotherapy, but I have seen what chemo does to the body after prolonged treatments. It puts your body through hell. But if it isn't too much, it might not have such a bad effect.

that will depend on many factors like size and position of the tumour. have a chat with your oncologist (cancer specialist) who will be able to explain all your options properly.

Not necessarily - it depends on what type of cancer, where it is etc. your oncologist will work out the very best coourse of treatment for the cancer xx

your oncoogist is the best person in the world . at this time. he will set out your treatment for you.. good luck..

ALWAYS listen to YOUR gut feelings and pray. I did and I was blessed with a wonderful oncologist who worked with me because I knew chemo would kill me, after all it is poison. I had very aggressive Non-Hodgkin's B-cell Lymphoma stage 3. I only did enough radiation to shrink the tumor so I could walk again, I used PRAYER and herbal alternatives, they only gave me 9 mts. to a year, that was in 2002, I am still CANCER FREE!!! I believe you should have a close relationship with your doctor, talk to him, or find one you can. Chemo works for some, but I personally would never do it and have met dozens of people who feel the same way. I will pray for you. Talk to your doctor, if you have fears, talk them out. Pray, God is the best doctor we have. I am not a doctor, just a child of God with FAITH!!!
