Would it be ok for me to visit my aunt, who is about to start radiotherapy...?

on the first of October, when I've got the cold?
kinda worried.

I can understand you wanting to see your aunt, however I would suggest a phone call instead until you are healthy. While she goes through her radiation therapy her immune system might be compromised and she will be more susceptible to colds and flu. I am sure you would not want to give her a cold just before her treatments.

It's good that you are concerned enough to ask. Best wishes for your aunts recovery.

Best ask her - she will have been advised as to the best conditions for her to be going in for the treatment. Ring her though - don't just turn up

maybe not. she will be weak anyway so visit when you are better.

You can visit your aunt, but can't goes in the radiotherapy. You may have to wait for her till she come out. Let me tell you this; Radiotherapy is the use of x-rays and similar rays (such as electrons) to treat disease.

Since the discovery of x-rays over one hundred years ago, radiation has been used more and more in medicine, both to help with diagnosis (by taking pictures with x-rays), and as a treatment (radiotherapy). While radiation obviously has to be used very carefully, doctors and radiographers have a lot of experience in its use in medicine.

Many people with cancer will have radiotherapy as part of their treatment. This can be given either as external radiotherapy from outside the body using x-rays or from within the body as internal radiotherapy.

Radiotherapy works by destroying the cancer cells in the treated area. Although normal cells are also sometimes damaged by the radiotherapy, they can repair themselves.

Radiotherapy treatment can cure some cancers and can reduce the chance of a cancer coming back after surgery. It may be used to reduce cancer symptoms.

Some people find that the side effects are very mild and that they just feel tired during their course of radiotherapy treatment.

hi. if your aunt has already had a course of chemotherapy it would be best to stay away as this lowers the immune system and leaves the patient open to infection.but if she hasnt then ask her if it is ok to visit.i hope you are both well soon xx
