Are all sarcomas detectible by x-ray?

I was wondering if sarcoma masses are all detectible by plain, film radiography. Thanks.

Well, it seems that pretty much all sarcomas--even soft-tissue ones--can be detectible on x-ray IF the mass is solid enough, as one of the main components of sarcoma masses is calcification. I could be wrong, but, based on my research, that's the case.

No, they are not.

An x-ray is only one diagnostic tool. Much depends upon the type of sarcoma that you are dealing with but I know that the Cat Scan picks up soft tissue sarcoma better than xray or PET scan.

Another fact to keep in mind is that diagnostic tools often fail to pick up small and microscopic disease or disease that may be 'hidden' behind structures. I know from experience with abdominal sarcoma that the only way to really tell how much cancer might be present is through surgery. And, than it can also be missed if small. There is no guarantee.
