Child hood radiation therapy cancers?

Why do you think Radiation Therapy for childhood cancers is important and how do you think it relates to a person who works as a radiographer or in the healthcare field. Just wanting some thoughts and ideas. Thanks.

I think its very important to be avoided.

Please look at this page.
It has a section on Save Our Children.

I don't totally understand your question - it goes in 2 directions. RT is just the standard for cancer treatment - it kills cells including the healthy ones that get in the line of fire. There are people who have survived any life threatening condition who are so inspired by the treatment that they are drawn to the health care field. It is good to have a passion!

RT is important for cancer because it helps to reduce and eliminate it.

If you are studying to be a radiographer the most important thing is when you are giving a child radiation remember it can stunt growth. So if the child needs radiation on one side of the abdomin do the other side as well that way if growth is stunted it will be stunted evenly.

Also have alot of patience. Many children must be sedated for radiation and have problems with one form of sedation or another.
