Does a family member who had radiation therapy most likely to affect other members of the family?

My friend will undergo her first radiation iodine therapy. And she'll be completely isolated from people in the next two days after her first treatment.

When she gets back home from the hospital, do you think that the radiation would have any adverse long term effects on the family members?...It's quite impossible for her to stay longer in the hospital and she has to get home after the two days. But her place (house) is quite small and proximity with the family members is very near- especially that she has three young children. Any views?...

It will have no long term effects.

I WOULDN'T THINK SO. AFFECT THEM IN WHAT WAY I GUESS WHEN YOU HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER THAT'S GOING THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THAT IT KINDA PUTS A LITTLE STRAIN ON YOU,,NO ONE WANTS TO SEE SOMEONE THAT THEY LOVE AND CARE FOR GO THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

She is not dangerous to you you are dangerous to her. The radiation kills off her white blood cells so that she has reduced resistance to infection. Something that wouldn't bother you could be very dangerous to her. She wasn't kept alone to protect someone else she was kept alone to protect her. I don't know about her being in a hurry to get home. Not with three small children in the house. Some arrangement must be made by her Dr. and nurses to protect her from childhood disease.
