My sister has glandular fever, is it safe for her to be around someone having radiation therapy? I would say NO, Glandular fever ( mononeucleosis) affects the lymph/immune system. Someone undergoing radiation therapy (for cancer) probably already has a weakened immune system, if not from the cancer, but from chemical anti cancer agents ( whether or not it was in the form of chemotherapy). I would not risk the exposure of someone who is already in a fragile state of health to someone who has a communicable disease which would further weaken the immune system. I would check with the doctor or someone at the hospital or where ever they are having the radiation therapy. sorry I know its not much help. |
