Detoxing after radiation exposure???

I had a mammogram done today & was wondering what I can do to detoxify.

Any exposure to radiation produces substantial oxidative stress in the exposed tissues. Every exposure induces some damage to DNA, cell membranes, cellular enzymes, etc.

Several days of very high doses of supplemental antioxidants (at least theoretically - no research has been done to evaluate this) might be a good idea.

Critical antioxidants include: vitamin C, vitamin E, alpha-lipoic acid, N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC - precursor to the body's most important antioxidant - Glutathione), Selenium, Zinc, Carotenoids (e.g. beta-carotene, leutein, zeaxanthin, etc.) and polyphenols (resveratrol, etc.).

You might look for a high-quality "Antioxidant" supplement at your health-food store. Additionally, eat lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, and berries and drink plenty of quality fruit juices (concord grape juice, blueberry juice, and pomegranate juice).

Best wishes and good luck.

The minimal amount of radiation that you are exposed to during a mammogram passes through you immediately. You are not "radioactive," and it is not necessary to take any special precautions following your examination.

I personally haven't read about any detoxify remedies for low radiation exposure. Most medical researchers would probably say the same thing. However, to much exposure will cause cancer cells. The only remedy I've come across is being health.

drink green tea its a natural detoxifier.

the most effective detox program i have encountered is using a purified form of liquid zeolite. Its easy to take and will not affect your natural mineral balance. The zeolite passes into the bloodstream and with its framework of cavities and cages it attracts heavy metals and toxins to it and safely your body eliminates the toxins through the bowel and urine

You don't NEED to "detoxify". You have no "toxins" to worry about.
