Radiation?? |
Does an ultrasound of your thyroid give off radiation? What about having an 'uptake' scan of your thyroid? Would that be exposure to radiation? How much is too much exposure to radiation and over how long of time? Check out this website... don't think it's exposure to radiation, I had an ultrasound of my thyroid, and nothing happened to me Ultrasound does not involve any radiation. An ultrasound machine creates images that allow various organs in the body to be examined. The machine sends out high-frequency sound waves, which reflect off body structures. A computer receives these reflected waves and uses them to create a picture. Unlike with an x-ray, there is no ionizing radiation exposure with this test. Ultrasound have nothing to do with radiation. Doctors aren't going to do any tests that are unnecessary. Breast Cancer survivor |
