How do 10 mrem of 4 x-rays and 300 mrem of radioactive barium enema affect a patient's annual exposure?

background radiation?

First, radioactive barium is not used for barium enemas. There would be absolutely no use for a radioactive material in a GI study, and barium is such a good absorber of radiation that in any study besides the GI the barium would absorb its own radiation and render the study useless.
Second, the annual dose to the public from man-made and used radiations is one tenth the occupational amount, or 500 mrem for every adult averaged over the whole population of the earth. What ever you received from the x-ray films, probably the 4 films at 10 mrem each, and the 300 mrem, probably from fluoroscopic examinations, is considered a natural man-made exposure/dose that leads to better health (we now know if you have a disease or not), is done only when necessary, and is acceptable as a part of our lives.
So, be happy, stay healthy, and rest assured that the dose you received is small, and not a health hazard to you or anyone else.
