Rabies help????

Ive been looking for answers to the questions i ask about rabies:
1. Is there treatment for rabies?
2.How do rabies spread?
3.Is there a cure?
4. Is there a scientific name for rabies?
5. What kind of organisms catch it?

THANKSS

1) The only treatment is PREVENTION as in the rabies vaccine given soon after contact with infected or possibly infected animal.
2) Rabies most often spread by contact with a bat (a bat in the room...do not touch, report it, it may have scratched or bitten you while you were asleep and you wouldn't know) Also cat or dog or similar animal bite or scratch. Always contain the animal for 10 days. If the animal doesn't die, you are safe. If the animal dies, better get the shots.
3) Only one human being in history has ever survived rabies, so I guess that would be a big NO.
4) Hydrophobia is another name for rabies (fear of water due to throat spasms)
5) mammals get rabies. rodents do NOT get rabies. Dogs, cats, foxes, skunks, bats, etc. is the usual one.

Hope that helps

1. Yes, there is a series of shots that you take, but they must be taken within a certain amount of time before you become ill.
2. Through contact with the saliva of an infected animal.
3. No, there is no cure, except see above.
4. Not that I know of.
5. Mammals.
