How harmful do rabies are? How long will it take for a man to survive if he has been bitten by dog infected? |
My 8 year old cousin died last May 27, 2007 and the findings of the doctor that cause his death was due to rabies, Is it possible that the rabies infection will take longer like for example months after he has bitten by the dog? Is it also possible that those people who were present beside the patient in the hospital during his medication were infected by rabies through skin contacts? If this is so, what are the precautionary measures to be taken in order to stop the rabies infection? The fatality of rabies is really high with or without proper medical attention. Rabies is transmitted only by fluid from an infected animal, and the hospital visitors are safe. Unless treated with a Pasteur vaccination, rabies will probably develop from a bite of an infected animal, and if it does, it is 100% fatal. Studies are underway with respect to treatments, but so far they are inconclusive. Rabies will kill unless treated. The cure is a series of shots in the abdomen. painful but at least it is treatable. be more afraid of dying from the squirrel bite than the possible rabies CDC reports only 1-2 deaths per year from contracted rabies in humans,(my condolences for your cousin) but it is very rare way to die untreated rabies can kill in a matter of days, not months. People get he foaming at the mouth. They are crazy at the sound of a bell or seeing even pouring water. Here in the outback islands of the Philippines where I live we do those poor souls a favour and put a bullet where it counts. The treatment here is only available for those that have money. its not true,,it only infects you when you have open wounds & rabies virus (from saliva etc)enters your skin & it will circulate in our system.. |
