Rabies in dogs? |
I Got a stray Pup from my sisters farm about 2 months ago - when it was only 6 weeks old . And the little pup since then has never really been outside. It has some of its shots but not the Rabies shot . It also has some health issues like a balding problem and recently a hurt leg .Now my question is , When I was feeding it some Meds it closed it mouth and pricked my finger pretty good ,. I cleaned it out and everything but should I be worried about Rabies , Because it was a free range pup for atleast 6 weeks . But its not showing any classic signs of a rabid pup . I`m not sure what to do ? How long can a young Pup that might be infected with rabies last without showing any real signs ? Like I said i`ve had it for 2 months , So should I be worried ? I think Rabies is not your worry. wait for 14 days and see if anything abnormal happens to the pup (like some symptoms of rabies). if that happens, then that means that the pup has rabies If you have had the dog more than 10 days with not symptoms of rabies it is fine. The major symptom of rabies is actually strange behavior and paralysis in the dog. Only the movies makes foaming look like the main disease. Your dog isn't even old enough to have a rabies shot yet. |
