There is a link to some symptoms for rabies. It's a slim to none chance that the person who got spit on you had been bitten by a dog in the past 30-90 days, let alone the slim chance that the proposed dog had rabies.

I would be more worried about other diseases over there. I knew a guy that got TB while stationed in Korea, but that comes from an infected person coughing on you.

oh bla la la la

I don't think the risk is very great to be honest

Oh my.

I am sooo sorry.

Jeez, it is not like there are hundreds of people daily that die of rabies. I think MAYBE one or two people every years die from it.....I think all the deaths have been from a bite from an infected animal.
Call you local health department and get the facts!!!

Here's a fact sheet from California's Dept of Health Services talking about the risks.

As you can see, the biggest worry is from coming in contact with infected animals. I really don't think a little saliva on your lip is enough to warrant concern, especially if you wiped it away before it could mingle with your own bodily fluids. If you're still worried, though, you might go and get a rabies shot just to be sure, and while you're there, talk to your doctor about what other health hazards you might have been exposed to. In China, rabies is only one of your worries, though. Ideally, before you went, you should have gotten a battery of immunizations for things like hepatitis, malaria, yellow fever, etc.

You are not infectious before showing symptoms. You have absolutely NO chance of getting rabies from this person spitting. You have more of a chance getting a cold from this person.

About 1-2 poeple die from rabies in the US each year and it is most likely due to bat exposures (not even bites from infected animals).

Human Rabies
1. Q: How do people get rabies?

A: People usually get get rabies from the bite of a rabid animal. It is also possible, but quite rare, that people may get rabies if infectious material from a rabid animal, such as saliva, gets directly into their eyes, nose, mouth, or a wound.

7. Q: Can rabies be transmitted from one person to another?

A: The only well-documented documented cases of rabies caused by human-to-human transmission occurred among 8 recipients of transplanted corneas, and recently among three recipients of solid organs (see MMWR article). Guidelines for acceptance of suitable cornea and organ donations, as well as the rarity of human rabies in the United States, reduce this risk. In addition to transmission from cornea and organ transplants, bite and non-bite exposures inflicted by infected humans could theoretically transmit rabies, but no such cases have been documented. Casual contact, such as touching a person with rabies or contact with non-infectious fluid or tissue (urine, blood, feces) does not constitute an exposure and does not require postexposure prophylaxis. In addition, contact with someone who is receiving rabies vaccination does not constitute rabies exposure and does not require postexposure prophylaxis.

Do not worry I don't think you would get rabies by that so relax there is nothing to worry about if you were so scared and wiped and cleaned it off that is very good.
