Can i get rabies? |
i got a tiny scratch from my dog that have no vac, can i get rabies? besides, its just a little scratch and its not bleeding, im having a headache, but no signs of being afraid of water, i just swam in our swimming pool, do i have rabies, if i do then answer this question : do vaccination shots on rabies hurt a lot!!!??? and how many times will i get shot for that my body is becoming numb You are just nervous. If it is a pet dog, observe it for 10 days. If the dog dies or becomes rabid, get the shots. If you cannot observe the dog, get the shots any way. If the dog is OK after 10 days, there is no need to worry. You will need intramuscular shots in your butt on days 0, 3, 7, 14 and 28. They do not hurt a lot. Rabies is a uniformly fatal disease, so do not take a chance. Does your dog have rabies? Any foaming at the mouth, or biting things? You can only get rabies from an infected animal. It has nothing to do with being afraid of water, either. And yeah, they do hurt, but you only get them if you have the infection. You are probably fine. you do not have rabies hey actually there is a risk for as you know the rabies virus can be found in the dog's saliva, and the dog licks its paws and could have transmitted the virus through a scratch. Still it is too early to tell, my advice is that OBSERVE VERY CLOSELY THE BEHAVIOR OF THE DOG, if he acts strange like he is salivating excessively, being agressive, barks often irregularly then bring them immediately to the vet, they would most likely open up the dog's brain in order to confirm if it is really rabies, there is a serum antibody for rabies that can be injected to humans together with a vaccine, i takes a couple of shots per month, these vaccines and antibody just hurt like any other ordinary vaccine, next time remember to vaccinize your animals and be responsible pet owners prevention is better than cure hopefully everything will turn out right, Being afraid of water is a LATE symptom in rabies, actually its more like of being afraid of drinking water although you would also salivate excessively and it is because you will have difficulty breathing, rabies affects the nervous system. You'll not get rabies. Maybe it's just in your mind that you will get rabies for only a scratch that is why you're having a headache. |
