Rabies Shot for humans no joke ? |
Does anyone know were I can get a Rabies shot how much will it cost and will it hurt Do NOT get vaccinated. Probably at the hospital, the price I am not sure your insurance might cover it, and the pain all shots hurt to me so I would think that it would hurt. go here Check with a doctor, or with your public health department. Rabies vaccines are seldom given to persons who have not come into contact with rabid animals, except in situations where their work makes such contact likely. An animal control officer or veterinarian are examples of people who might regularly be immunized against rabies. The old method of immunizing by several injections into the abdomen is long gone; now, injections are in the arm much like any other immunization you might receive. I've only known one person who had one as a preventative measure (he was an animal control officer) and he had a little soreness, but didn't mention any other effects. The cost is fairly high; however, if you have been exposed to a rabid animal, you should NOT delay the injections no matter what the cost; go to the nearest emergency room if this is the case, and worry about the money later! PLEASE, do not listen to the fool who says vaccinations do not work. He is reading junk science. This is a perfect example of how much incorrect information is available on the internet. Be careful where you surf. Your life is at risk by believing everything you read. The rabies vaccine is intended for people working with animals. It is normally not recommended for those who may have casual contact with low risk animals. It is imperative that anyone possible exposed to rabies IMMEDIATELY receive the vaccine. There is no cure for rabies once symptoms develop. The vaccine is incredibly effective and safe. When given for rabies prevention it is no more painful than any shot. It is expensive. There are three shots in the series. And, a follow-up titer....checking to see if your body is fully protected....is necessary. There are Rabies vaccines for humans and the shots for someone exposed.
