Rabies again!?

ok, i may have had that low risk contact of rabies. i decide to call my doctor & he won't be in til thursday. who do i call & what do i do?

was the skin broken ? do you know where the animal is and can you get hold of him?

Contact animal control in your community - if you can get teh animal they will quarantine it for ten days - if the animal doesn't get sick then you will be ok or you will have to do a series of shots that aren't too bad

Go to the ER, today, now! Rabies is almost 100% fatal and the only way to test for it is opening your brain.

Get the shots, they aren't as painful as they used to be (I've had them). They are expensive though, most insurance plans pay for them. It is better to be out a little dough than be dead.

If you don't have insurance you should contact your local health department. Thay can possibly provide you with a lot of useful information and they might even have the rabie vaccine available.

You shouldn't even ask to do...get to the hospital, if you're worried about not having insurance call DHEC. Rabies will kill you if it goes untreated. This is a priority and you should act like it this is your life we're talking about.
