After many years is rabies still dangerous?

my boyfriend is bitten by a puppy when he was still a kid. The puppy died and he wasn't injected by anti rabies. After 10 yrs or so, is it still dangerous? can the rabies still affect him?

No, he doesn't have Rabies, or he would have been very sick and probably died way back then. The incubation period for Rabies infection is usually 3-12 weeks, but can be up to 2 years.

Edit to add: Travis, the mortality approaches 100%, but there was a case just a couple of years ago in Wisconsin of a girl who survived. She was put in a medically induced coma for quite some time, without antivirals. Look it up.

If he hasn't come down with rabies by now he was not infected.

Lucky for him because rabies has a 100% mortality rate for those who become infected. Fortunately, if one receives immediate treatment after being bitten by an infected animal this can be avoided.

Yes, Sabrina, There was one case where, after extraordinary measures were taken the patient survived after contracting rabies. So, technically I should have said "approaches 100%". However, for all practical purposes your pretty much dead meat without immediate treatment to avoid infection.

Unless your boyfriend is still a kid, there is no danger of him having been infected by rabies now when he was bitten by the puppy many years ago.
