My dogs killed a possem last night and they have had their rabies shots and are up to date on their vaccines but I was wondering about possems in Michigan and if they carry rabies. I have heared about people eating possems which sound awful Yes, they are capable of carrying the rabies virus, just like any mammal. Did the one that your dog got last night have it? You would have to take the dead possum to the vet and have it checked out to know for sure. its possible ANY animal can get rabies! Even horses! All they have to do is get bit by another animal with rabies and they are likely to be carriers also. |
