Chelation, is this simply just a way to cleanse or detox your body of dangerous heavy metal toxins?

If so, then why is chelation generally used in the same sentence with "quackery?" Are there other natural supplements, other than chelation, which can help to detox the body of dangerous heavy metals. I have heard that L-Lysien and L-Proline work good. Is this true? Dave.

Chelation therapy involves putting certain chemicals in your blood intravenously. I don't know whether it is beneficial or not. The only person I knew who did this , had had a stroke. I never saw him again.

Chelation therapy does have its applications. It is used in acute heavy metal poisioning like lead. My Vet told me that they even use it on birds that have eaten lead and gotten lead poisioning. It involves IV infusion of EDTA to accomplish this, EDTA will not clean out your arteries, that is why you see the quackery attached to it.
