My son has slight blood discharge from ear, but it doesnt hurt. What should I do??? |
My son is 12 years old, so he would tell me if this is painful, so I know he is in no pain. What he complains about is that he hears water swooshing in his ear. He has tried tilting his head and applying a small suction with yopur palm to "suction" it out. This hasnt worked. Yesterday I carefully wiped his ear with a q-tip and the tip was light pink. Is this an infection? Remember, he is in no pain or no fever. He does seem a little "stuffed" up, so its possibly he has allergies. This will be his 3rd day with this clogged ear. Any suggestions or anyone have a similar condition? Sometimes its like the "water" moves out of the way and he said he thinks it cleared, then he moves another way or positions his head differently and it clogs up again. Have you tried giving him a decongestant....Mucinex D works really well. But seriously you should really consider taking him to the doctor........you don't want it to get worse. This may be the onset of something so if you take him to the doctor you can nip it in the bud. You need to get his allergies under control. My son is twelve and has allergies and I would spend the time and the money to get him to the doctor to make sure he gets that taken care of. Please don't put any more q-tips in his ears and from now on when you need to clean his ears in the future after this infection is gone, don't use q-tips-use ear drops like Debrox....Walmart, Walgreens, Eckerds, etc. In boxing, a referee will stop the fight if he sees a boxer bleeding from the ear. It's potentially a very important sign. Report It Thanks, and I'm glad he's better! I know it's annoying when you're ear is clogged. Report It I would take him to the doc! Report It do not fool with eyes or ears . i do not think this is serious but you need to call you doctor to be sure he can have swimmers ear , infection , or a broken ear drum but what ever it is it needs to be loooked at you know what everybody is gonna say..why are you waiting to do it? Go to the doctor. Light pink fluid from the ear could be a number of different things some very serious. Take him to an ENT immediately. Don't fool around with the ear. I know what it's like to have chronic ear problems since I was a kid. 2 operations later and I still have problems as an adult. I have to go to my ENT every 6 months for the rest of my life. I had "swimmers ear" as a kid all the time and it developed into a mastoid problem and a whole in my ear drum. Don't take any chances. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I've been going through for the last 40 years. Good Luck! |
