Does anyone have any suggestions for severe itching due to medication?

My doctor has placed me on Q-Var, it's an inhaler. I've been on it three times before, and all three times I stopped taking it because I have had a severe allergic reaction to it (throat closing in, itching, rashes, high fever, etc). I have told my doctor about this reaction many times, including this time when she mentioned me going on it again. She says the benefits (of which I don't see any for what I am currently battling) far outweigh the reactions.

So my question is does anyone have any suggestions for severe itching all over the body? I've tried lotions, including prescription DML lotion and over the counter Eucerin, I've tried moisturizing lotions, hydrocortisone, and taking Benadryl regularly every four hours. The itching is really severe, crawling out of my skin itching. Does anyone have any tried and true methods to relieve all over itching?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

By the way, forgot to mention that I cannot see a different doctor. I'm assigned to a specific one due to the type of insurance I have (county insurance) and have to pay full price out of pocket to see any other doctor.

As for other inhalers, I was also allergic to Advair Diskus, with similar reactions, so she pulled me off that one.

Also cannot stop using it, because she keeps calling in refills, and then I get yelled at, blamed, treated poorly, and accused of prolonging my illness when I stop using it.

Just need suggestions to stop the itching!

I was told to take dose of vinegar and water mixed. Also drinking alot of water help.

I can't believe the doctor hasn't put you on a different inhaler. There are MANY. You should NOT be taking that one at all. Please don't use it anymore.

Time to find a new doctor---right away.

she's a lousy doc. you said you have a problem with your throat closing up. that's reason enough to put you on something else. this is a severe reaction and you shouldn't take this stuff. for now, benedryl may help but contact a pharmacy to make sure there won't be any problem. then call yor doc. tell her put you on something else or find a new doc.

go see another doctor...

You need a different medication.

Take only half the usual dose of medication.

if you are having these conditions on this medication you should stop taking it, call the doctor & tell him you will not be taking this meds anymore nad to perscribe you something different. you can also call a pharmisist at your local drug store and explain to hi/her what is going on & they can probably give you teh name of meds that your docor can recommend to replce it with
