How do fever occurred when a patient has a pyelonephritis??? |
Well pyelonephrits is an inflammation in the renal pelvis..... Pyelonephritis is also known as a kidney infection that causes septicemia ( blood poisoning). Our blood is considered sterile, there shouldn't be any germs in blood. Our kidneys help to clean our blood of any by-products in the blood. If there is a germ in the blood, it affects the kidney (s). When our body's develop a fever, it is our body's way of trying to kill the germ ( heat will aid in it's destruction). But, once septicemia has set in, this is quite dangerous and even life-threatening, if not treated with antibiotics, usually IV antibiotics as this condition will warrant a hospitalization. IV antibiotics work a lot faster than taking an antibiotic in pill form. Most times, kidney infections are caused by E. Coli ( bacteria) . If a UTI ( urinary tract infection) is not treated,or not treated properly, the bacteria can work it's way up to the kidney. This is more of a medical condition in females because the tube that empties our bladder ( to put it simply) is very short. This causes bacteria to enter into the bladder and from there, can spread to the kidneys. I hope this helps . P.S. I have had 2 kidney infections in the past mainly because I do not get any symptoms of a UTI. |
