Describe the effects of pulmonary fibrosis in terms of what happens to the physiologival dead space & air-flow

What effects does pulmonary fibrosis have on the lamina propria & elasticity, partial pressure of oxygen in the lungs, tidal volume. What is the physical reason fot this change in the Po2? Why doses shortness of breath occur only during exercise initially? Would a person suffer from Tachypnea Or Bradypnea?(explain). How do corticosteroids work and why would they be prescribed to a pulmonary fibrosis patient?

pulmonary fibrosis attacks septae alveolares which means p(O2)low and p(co2) high.i think they get tachypnea because high p(co2) forces respiratory center in medulla oblongata xx corticosteroids would slow down fibrozing process but they cant stop it and many complications if they re long time used so my opinion--- corticosteroids re not used like a medication it this case xx

Pulmonary Fibrosis is a stiffining of the lungs. Just think of them as a pod of grapes. You have 2 types of pulmonary disease restrictive and obstructive. Obstructive is the ones known as COPD. Resrtictive is all the other ones. The aveoli in the lungs where o2 is exchanged into the pulmonary vascular system. When you have obstructive diseases your aveoli are streched out and get overinflated upon inspiration. when you have restrictive diseases (pulmonary fibrosis is one) the aveoli are very stiff and will not inflate as easily "restricing" the air you breath and limiting air exchange in the pulmonary vascular level. when your lungs aren't as elastic (meaning the are restrictive) they will not hold the same tidal volume as someone with normal lungs which will lower your po2. you havea shunt like effect in your lungs. the shortness of breath occurs initially because you have a huge increase of o2 consumption. you have 3 stages of breathing patterns in excersise. The first is incrrease in avlveolar ventilation in the first few seconds. The second is slow gradual further increase in alveolar ventilation deveolping ofver appoxomatly the first 3 minutes of exerccise. and the third the avleolar ventiaation stablizes, meaning your body finally catches up. The perosn would suffer from tachyphena due to the lower po2 and increase need for po2, also rasing the heart rate your heart trys to pump faster more blood to circulate o2 throughout your body.
cortocosteroids are antiinflamatory medications. I am not familuar with why for pulmonary fibrosis but there is many reasons for asthma, copd, etc
