Do you have a test i can take to see if i am at risk for pulmonary fibrosis? Little is known about the causes of pulmonary fibrosis. Research points to many different potential causes. PF may have a genetic component, so some cases are considered familial. Other cases seem to be caused by some sort of lung injury, such as smoking, exposure to toxic gases, asbestos, certain chemicals, dust, fertilizer (farmer's lung), coal dust, etc. PF may be caused by some type of autoimmune disorder as well. The bottom line is there are no tests available to see if you are going to get the disease. |
