I am in need of a pulse oximeter. Does anyone know where I can get one donated as I can not afford one? |
I have Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. I am on 6 to 8 liters of oxygen 24/7. It is very important for me to have the oximeter so I know when my SATS are dropping. I just can't afford to buy one myself as they are so expensive. I want one myself. I'm on 4 L 24/7, and upping to ~6 L when physically active (odd thing to say, because I'm restricted to sedentary activity). I'm severe COPD, FEV1 32%, resting sat on room air is low 90's and I'm desaturating to low 80's upon mild exertion. I'm also desaturating in sleep, likely due to sleep apnea. (Getting the sleep test in clinic next week, and I probably will be on positive pressure O2 after that.) If you have medicaid or medicare your DR needs to write prescription for it. Then one of the two should cover it either by renting it or buying. http://www.turnermedical.com/Finger_Oxim... I would agree w/ "rea4154" and add that maybe your Pulmonary specialist could be of help ( he/she might have one available or your local clinic/ hospital might). First check out advice from "rea4154" as in most states "Medicare"(federal funded) will cover the expense medical devices with a Doctors script."Medicaid"(state funded program) I am not sure since is has been restructured a bit with the new programs as to what they will cover.(Varies state to state) I saw quite a few of those on eBay. Even going for as low as $30 shipped. Good luck. |
