Can Pulmonary Embolism Be Hereditry?

Can Pulmonary Embolism Be Hereditry?

Factors contributing to PE, YES. Venous malformations, molecular make-up of blood causing susceptibility and hormonal imbalances.

I just researched that for my husband and sadly, yes it is!!
Have a great weekend.

Yes it can.

Risk factors for PE are : pregnancy, orthopedic procedures, prolonged bed rest, certain cancers, and others.....

Most of the time if someone has a pulmonary embolism (PE) WITHOUT identifiable risk factors they do a "hypercoagulable work up" to determine if the patient has an inherited predisposition to forming clots.

Factor V Leiden, Protein C deficiency, Protein S deficiency, anti-thrombin III deficiency and elevated homocyteine are all inherited causes of hypercoagulability, and increase the risk of PE in those patients.

yes it could be hereditary............
