Are those who were born prematurely more prone to psychotic disorders later on in life? Does any one know?

Was just wondering if it could possibly be a contributing factor.

My son was born two months early, and I never heard of such a thing. The only thing that I would believe a link, is not exactly because they were born too early, but because the caregivers expose them to to much stimulation. I know if the babies are exposed to too much to soon, it can cause seizures. We kept our son in a very quiet environment, and we still don't take him out too much. He is almost three, and we haven't taken him to a movie and probably won't until he is about six or seven. Movies can stimulate the brain too much, and so can basketball games and such. That is about all I know. Hope that it helps

I don't know if any real studies have been done on such a thing, but I do know that those who are born prematurely are more prone to allergies and general sickness. Sometimes, people who are born prematurely are considered "sickly" because they are sick so much. On the other hand, my brother in law was born preemie and he's a friggin' ox. He's never sick. He has arthritis. But thats about it.

I think psychosis is more of a genetic/environmental thing than a preemie thing.
That's just me talking. You could investigate some of the medical journals online for studies. :)
