Is it normal to want a psychotic mental disorder?

Is it normal to want a psychotic mental disorder?

It's psychotic to want a psychotic mental disorder...Or it could mean that person is desperately seeking attention, which would only annoy everyone else around them. :)

No, its normal, but everyone is different and i sorta agree with nukka

"Normal" is not easily defined. Everyone has their own normal, or base line. If you were completely satisfied with life, you wouldn't necessarily want a psychotic mental disorder.

But -- if more people reported their thoughts, we would have a better idea of what normal is.. but the only thoughts we ever know about are the ones that people report.

I started a site to collect people's experiences about spiritual, mental, and identity issues, and you can read more about it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_Wiki...

Personal experience:
I, however, wanted to be labelled with a severe mental illness so that I could get the help I needed because I was misdiagnosed, and mislabelled.

Medication can also affect thinking, as can former drug use although from your question I don't think that is the problem.

If you have a psychiatrist, ask him to see a cognitive-behavioral therapist or other therapist he thinks might help you.

You can get more information on psychotherapy here on http://health.yahoo.com, or on WebMD. I do not have the expertise to recommend a specific therapeutic technique.. but cognitive behavioral therapy may help you avoid the thought patterns that make you want to have a psychotic mental disorder.

I think there's a chance based on your description that you are struggling, but here's how to tell:
1. Are you able to think about other things?
2. Do you notice the thoughts?
3. Do you act in rash, dangerous or inappropriate or undesirable ways because of these thoughts?

If you call the The National Information Center for Mental Health 1-800-789-2647, they can direct you to the appropriate people who can answer this better than I can.

i dont agree with nukka's answer, being psychotic means you suffer from hallucinations and delusions. I think that some people who may have a personality disorder (which is not a mental illness)may feel they want a diagnosis of a psychotic disorder, Im not sure why, maybe it is a form of seeking attention. But no I don't think it's 'normal'. Then again how do you define 'normal'.

wanting a disorder like that is another disorder in itself, find ou why, find help to deal with this attention disorder and then you mite understand why actually don't want thes psychotic disorders

If you are so desperate to justify why you are an unsucessful loser, than yes, it is normal to want a mental disorder.
