Physical therapy as a major? |
I am considering physical therapy as a major and I was wondering if anyone who is majoring in it could tell me about it. I personally think I would really enjoy being a physical therapist but would not enjoy studying it. Bones and muscles do not interst me. Is that reason to chose a different major? thanks in advance It is a very rewarding career, but there is a heavy emphasis on the musculoskeletal system...even if you work in more of a "neuro setting." In any field that you decide to study you'll have individual things that you will have to learn that won't interest you at all. When I was in Physical Therapy school we had to take statistics, which I completely hated. Hopefully most of what you are studying you'll be interested in learning since it will help you when you actually start practicing as a P.T. If you do not like studying bones and muscles I believe you picked the wrong medical field, since this is what you will be dealing with when you get your degree. There are so many medical opportunities you can look into. I hate to sound crude but in pt you have to learn all the bones and muscles, also know the functions they perform. |
