Having phobias?

Is it normal for a person to have many phobias?

I am truly scared of many things, all of which have names:
Agoraphobia- Fear of open spaces or of being in crowded, public places.
Aichmophobia- Fear of needles.
Eremophobia, Isolophobia or Monophobia - Fear of solitude, being alone.
Glossophobia- Fear of speaking in public or of trying to speak.
Parturiphobia , Tocophobia, Lockiophobia or Maieusiophobia - Fear of pregnancy or childbirth.
Social Phobia- Fear of being evaluated negatively in social situations.
Spheksophobia- Fear of wasps.
Testophobia- Fear of taking tests.
Trypanophobia- Fear of injections.

In responce to Jackie's "answer" if that's what you want to call it- I'm not trying to sound smart here... I looked up information on phobias and I found a list and saw several that I definetly experience. And for someone who's a "Personal assistant to a Physciatrist" (which doesn't MAKE her a psychiatrist) YOU ARE VERY RUDE AND BELITTLING!

Those are a lot of funny words.
But seriously, the more you analyze having them, the harder they will be to conquer. Delete all those words from your dictionary, it will be a good start. Refuse to fail.

Some people are prone to having phobias. The good news is that phobias are the most easily cured mental conditions. See a psychologist.

i think it's perfectly normal. not every person is afraid of only one or two things...we have many things that occupy our minds. =] you're just as normal as any one of us

ur just a scared little person

I think it is normal to have phobias but you should try to deal with them

that's not many--I have most of those and more--wish I was that normal

yes , it is normal .

don't worry its pretty normal, and sooner or later you might actually get over them hopefully

It's completely common to have multiple phobias. If it affects your daily life, then it's a problem and there are treatments available that can help you.

NO, but quit following me around all the time.

Everyone, from the youngest child to the oldest adult, experiences anxieties and fears at one time or another. Feeling anxious in a particularly uncomfortable situation never feels very good. However, such feelings are not only normal, they're also necessary. Experiencing and dealing with anxieties can prepare you to handle the unsettling experiences and challenging situations of life. The best way to deal with the fears is to see a therapist. I even watched a show where the subject was afraid of balloons and hypnotism worked.

Whoa... I've got just about all of those. The only one you didn't list was "TriskaDecaPhobia." (the fear of the number between twelve and fourteen...)

It's normal for a person to have many phobias, but many of the phobias that speak of internal conflicts such as social withdrawal/problems/situations stem from being self-conscious.

Agoraphobia usually stems from having panic attacks. I experienced panic attacks and only slight agoraphobia (such as, I couldn't be in Wal-mart by myself. When my panic attacks started, people's faces would start looking disfigured to me.)

The rest you listed are fairly common, common common phobias and many people develop them from things they've been taught (such as "Don't get pregnant, I won't take care of the baby.) Or things that we've learned ('touching the stove' scenario with needles, wasps, tests, injections, etc.)

Please - Are you for real? Or do you have a fear of being yourself? In my opinion, which means nothing to anyone but me, if you have all of these phobias you are whacked - I can believe you may have some of them, but not all of them. I think you're and intelligent bully and bored.

Yes, there are people out there who do have many phobias - I don't get that from You.

You don't have a phobia of phobias have you? That would be REALLY bad.

I'm way too afraid to answer this question because I fear your response to it!

Yes it is normal. I have a phobia and I think one of your phobias some how ended up creating the rest of them.
I have a fear of being pregnant but it's because of my primary phobia. It's all about avoiding uncomfortable physical feelings that may never happen. The wasps, the needles and injections go together. Social situations, speaking in public, and your social phobia go together. The pregnancy one could fit with the needle phobia. I go to someone for my phobia and it helps a lot. If you can find someone who can help you you maybe able to tackle more than one at a time because they blend into each other. I'm sure you must have many rituals and superstitions to try to avoid your fears. (My main phobia has caused me to avoid social situations.) If you can think of what your first fear was then do a time line on when the others developed you be able to tell how it started. Unfortunately that doesn't help as far as getting rid of your fears. If you have any questions on how to getting rid of your phobia e mail me. If that is something you where looking to do. ( Oh, by the way I think Jackie the personal assistant for 4 years needs to go see the dr she works for:)) How rude.

I am a mysophobia (fear of being contaminated with dirt or germs)
ophidiophobia (fear of snakes)
gephysrophobia (fear of crossing bridges)
xylophobia (fear of wooden objects)

Of course it is normal!! I take offence when people think I mentioned my phobias just to get attention!!

Yes I know I don't like being in crowds and I don't like people coming up to me and getting into my my personal space to ask me question when there is allot of room for them to stand there many people who have many fears/ phobias my mother has allot too so if your asking if your normal then I would say yes
